Agriculture

Walcha Central School Ag Farm

Walcha Central School has an amazing agricultural facility.  We are lucky enough to have approximately 180 acres of land and fantastic facilities, to provide students with copious amounts of hands-on and authentic experiences.

The school has a Border Leicester Stud and Limousin Cattle Stud.  Students are fully involved in all aspects of care for these animals.  This includes helping with disease and parasite control, shearing, marking, feeding and record keeping.

Our facilities include a shearing shed, covered sheep and cattle yards, wash bay, tractors and facilities for keeping poultry and pigs.

Walcha Central School students are also very involved in cattle showing.  We are very fortunate with generous local farmers who supply us with high-quality stock.  We are also able to utilise steers from our Limousin stud for this showing process.

Overall, we believe students who attend Walcha Central School and study agriculture will come out with a rounded experience in what it is like to work in the Primary Industries sector.

Walcha Central School Ag Farm Sponsors

Every year we are lucky enough to have local farmers provide us with donations.  These come in many forms, and without their support, we wouldn't be able to provide our students with the experiences they currently get.

Current donations to the livestock team are:

  • Mackaway Pastoral Co. - donated steer Milko for Wingham Beef Week 2017.
